Payment information needed in order to get paid

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

Just successfully activated your Shopzilla Publisher account and eager to start earning money? That’s great and you can start earning revenue immediately by choosing your ad from a large selection of shopping content and pasting the HTML code onto your site, it’s that simple.

We do encourage you  not to forget to enter your payment information sooner rather than later.  As we don’t ask for this information during the registration process, we know from experience that people tend to forget to enter these.  It’s important because we wouldn’t know where  and who to send the money to.

When trying to enter your payment information as the first thing you do on the portal, you may find that the  button “Enter your payment details” in the account section will be missing which makes it impossible to enter any payment information. This is not a technical issue on our portal.  Note: It may take 20-30 minutes from the time of your account activation for us to fully complete your account processing and enable you to enter your payment information. After this short time, you won’t encounter this problem anymore.

In the meantime, please don’t worry and feel free to start exploring our different banners and searchboxes.

Once your account is fully activated, the “Payment Information” section is fully loaded and you will be able to see the green “Add Payment Info” button.

If you have any other questions regarding the payment process please check out our dedicated payments & reporting section on the blog. You can also always contact us, if there are any questions.

How to measure the success of your affiliate programs

How to measure the success of your affiliate programs

Your statistics table provides you with very important information: how many impressions your ad received and how many clicks those ads generated. It divides clicks into impressions to tell you your clickthrough rate — the percentage of people who see the ad and click on it. The number of impressions your ads receive depends on the marketing of your site. The number of clicks the ads receive will depend on a whole load of other factors, including:

  • How closely does the subject of the ad match your content?
  • Where is the ad unit placed on the page?
  • How well is it optimized?
  • And even the type of users who visit your site (targeting)

Much of your job will always be to get all of these factors right to push your clickthrough rate up as high as possible.

After the clickthrough rate comes your most important piece of information: the amount you’ve actually earned.

The eCPC and eCPM can be a bit confusing. The eCPC is the amount of money you are “effectively” earning per click, and the eCPM is the amount that you are earning on average for every thousand impressions.

Since  Shopzilla’s affiliate program does not necessarily give you money every time someone clicks on one of your ads, you might think it’s difficult to compare it against other advertising programs, but actually it isn’t: AdSense reports, for example, will tell you also exactly how much you’re earning for each click on an ad unit. That’s when eCPC and your eCPM stats come to play:  those two values will enable you to weigh Shopzilla Publisher against other affiliate programs (regardless of whether it is CPC, CPA, CPM, etc), in this example compare it to AdSense.

It’s only when you’re able to compare like for like that you’ll know what to do. Shopzilla’s provision of the equivalent earnings in CPC and CPM rates make those comparisons much easier!

Generating Clicks but Not Revenue

Generating clicks but Not revenue

Generating clicks but NOT revenue

Looking at your reports you might have wondered why you have generated a lot of clicks, but you don’t see any revenue generated.

Being an affiliate using the Shopzilla Publisher Program, you make money online on a per-click basis. However, if your website visitors click on a Shopzilla ad on your website, but then, do not click on a product listed on a Shopzilla site, Shopzilla does not pay affiliates for those clicks. While this may occur from time-to-time, we encourage you consider your ‘effective Earnings per Click’ (eCPC) based on a meaningful sample of click activity (such as 500 – 1000 clicks).

Revenue generating activity occurs when the users you refer to Shopzilla redirect from product offer listings to the online retailer listing those product offers.

Earning money online wit the UK Shopzilla Publisher Program

Earning money online with the UK Shopzilla Publisher Program

Were you wondering when your payment will arrive? We pay our Publishers on a on a monthly schedule. If your account balance reaches £50.00 in any month, we will send your payment before the end of the following month, provided there are no holds on your account. If you haven’t accumulated £50.00 in a single month, your earnings will be carried over to the following month, till you reach the £50.00 threshold. As soon as you reached the threshold or more we pay you out. Payday is the 25th of the month after the Publisher’s account balance has reached at least £50 and the money should be in your account 3 days later at the latest.

You can track your performance and earnings from the Reports tab of your account. Reports will display day-to-day details about how much you’re earning from the Shopzilla Publisher Program*. Find out more on how to understand earning reports.

Once you’ve qualified for a payment and your payment has been made, you’ll see it listed on this also in the reporting tab choosing payment report option.

Is an invoice required in order to receive payment?

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Shopzilla does not expect you to provide an invoice in order to receive payments. You will be paid automatically if you have earned the minimum payment threshold of £50.00. If you are not located in the UK and are not VAT registered, then no VAT is payable by Shopzilla for Shopzilla’s Publishers’ earnings.

However if you are located in the UK and are VAT registered we will need you to send us an invoice.

Once your account balance has reached the minimum of £50, Shopzilla will send you a final earning report* during the first 3 days of the following month. You as a Publisher then have 10 working days to send us a valid invoice. Please issue a UK-VAT invoice in accordance with UK-VAT invoicing requirements. This invoice should show the net fees earned (provided by the final earning reports send by Shopzilla Publisher program) plus the applicable amount of VAT.

The invoice address is the following:
Shopzilla Ltd.
111 Buckingham Palace Road
London, SW1W 0SR

Invoices can be send by post, email or fax. Only on receipt of the VAT invoice Shopzilla will remit the Shopzilla Publisher earnings plus the VAT charged to your account. If in doubt you should verify the exact invoicing requirements with your local tax office or with your tax adviser.

*Publisher earnings are subject to validation and adjustments. Portal reported earnings should only be considered as an estimate, which is why Publishers that are VAT registered in the UK will receive a report with final earnings amounts once they have reached the £50.00 threshold. Publishers should consult the Shopzilla, Inc. Publisher Program Terms & Conditions for more information.

Shopzilla Publisher program - payment information

Due to the fact that the UK Shopzilla Publisher program is still under construction, there are still some minor pitfalls on the way to the perfect portal.

For instance, providing us with your payment details can be a bit confusing. What you can see at the moment is a text tailored to an US audience only, because we are temporarily using features of the US Shopzilla Publisher program. Please ignore it and just select “Non U.S. Resident”, as shown below:

On the next screen, “Are you a U.S. tax payer?” please select “No”.

The next step will allow you to provide us with your PayPal account details.

Just type in your information and click on “Submit”. That’s it.

As soon as this feature is fully adjusted to the UK, we will notify you here!

At the moment, we are just able to provide PayPal as a payment method. However we are going to offer alternative payment methods such as wire transfer in the future.

best regards,

Your UK Shopzilla Publisher team

Your money - it’s only two clicks away!

How does the Shopzilla Publisher UK Program work?

In order to help our publishers understand how the program works, we have illustrated the steps involved in generating earnings - the important part!

How do publishers make money?

How do publishers make money?

1. You place Shopzilla Publisher UK Program banners or links on your website. A visitor comes to your website, sees a product they would like to compare prices on.
2. They click on one of the Shopzilla Publisher UK Program banners or links (*on your Portal report, this represents a ‘click’). This takes them to BizRate, our sister website, where they see a list of relevant products and prices.
3. Once they decide which product suits them best, they click on a link that takes them through to the website of the Merchant selling that product.
4. The Merchant pays Shopzilla for valid, CPC-monetized leads and celebrates the sale of a product from the quality traffic you, the Publisher, sent to their website.
5. Shopzilla shares the revenue generated from this quality traffic with you, the Publisher.* Now YOU celebrate!

Should you have any questions, please post a comment since another Publisher may be wondering something similar. The Shopzilla Publisher Team will be sure to reply.

* All publisher earnings are subject to validation and adjustments. Portal reported earnings should only be considered as an estimate. Publishers should consult the Shopzilla, Inc. Publisher Program Terms & Conditions for more information.
