Example of a Shopzilla Publisher US dynamic asset

Shopzilla Publisher Teamhas worked hard to deliver you a top of the range product thus enabling you to become successful Publishers. That’s why we have been investing a lot of our time and resources in developing a new feature: dynamic assets.

What’s so special about them?

1. As the name says, the ads are ‘dynamic’ - the offers you display change just as offers on BizRate do. This way you never risk linking to a product that’s no longer available!

2. Dynamic assets feature will enable you to populate the ads with products you choose - you build dynamic assets based on top keyword or category search results, or build comparison shopping assets for specific products.

3. You can choose the length of your creative - if you are an experienced affiliate marketer, you probably know that sometimes short description works better; in other cases long creative, including more details, will be more attractive to your readers/customers. Our new type of ads give you best of both words, with the choice of ads with long or short descriptions!

4. Customize your assets to complement your website’s design -  you will have the full control over the appearance of your dynamic ads: from the background colour to the link colours before they’re clicked, when they’re clicked and when you’re thinking about clicking them. And more!

Are you excited? We certainly are!!

So now the big question - when can our Publishers expect this new feature to be available? Well, it will be available on 7th July and onwards.

Apply for Shopzilla XML data feed!

If you are an experienced affiliate marketer and e-commerce is your daily bread think about utilizing our XML based FTP-data feed product! Shopzilla Publisher Program is offering a powerful tool enabling our e-commerce publishers to download BizRate.co.uk inventory (partly or whole) from one ftp location and display it on their own websites.

What do you need to do?

1. Consult your website developers. Incorporating XML feed takes some development effort - make sure that your website fulfils the requirements!

2. Apply for FTP-data feed product. Log in to your account and go to Data Feeds tab. Try to describe as well as possible how you will use our feed - this will speed up the assessment process.

3. Once we have accepted your application we will send you Shopzilla Mutual Nondisclosure Agreement - make sure you sign it and return it!

4. Once the paper work is out of your way and you have received your access key you can access our ftp location and test the feed.

Use Placement IDs for better ad performance

Saturday, February 21st, 2009

The Shopzilla UK Publisher Program makes Placement IDs available for your use to help track the effectiveness of your chosen assets, or their placement on your website. You can define and use unique Placement IDs on different sections of your website to track your earnings on a more granular level.

For example, let’s say you have a Shopzilla UK Publisher Program ad on the top of your homepage and one placed at the footer of your homepage. You can define Placement ID 1 to identify the ad on the top, and Placement ID 2 for the ad in the footer. The Shopzilla UK Publisher Portal Reporting will allow you to break down your earnings by Placement ID. By using Placement IDs, you can fine tune and optimize ad placement to ensure that you are maximizing your website’s earning potential.

A few important things that you need to remember about the use of Placement IDs:

1) A Placement ID must always be used.

2)
The default Placement ID is 1. You may leave it as 1 for all of your assets if you do not wish to take advantage of Placement IDs. Just remember Rule #1: A Placement ID must always be given!

3)
Placement IDs must by a positive integer. Zero, decimals, negative numbers, and non-numeric characters are not allowed. Should you pass a Placement ID with a character that is not allowed, it will convert to the default ‘Placement ID 1′.

4)
Placement IDs 1-99 available and are visible in the Shopzilla UK Publisher Portal Reporting. If you use Placement IDs above that, you won’t be able to see any earnings associated with them through the Shopzilla UK Publisher Portal Reporting. Placement IDs that are not formatted properly will converted to Placement ID ‘0’, and Publishers will not be paid.

Start using Placement IDs today to get better insight into ad performance. If you have any questions about using Placement IDs, please contact us.

How does the Shopzilla Publisher UK Program work?

In order to help our publishers understand how the program works, we have illustrated the steps involved in generating earnings - the important part!

How do publishers make money?

How do publishers make money?

1. You place Shopzilla Publisher UK Program banners or links on your website. A visitor comes to your website, sees a product they would like to compare prices on.
2. They click on one of the Shopzilla Publisher UK Program banners or links (*on your Portal report, this represents a ‘click’). This takes them to BizRate, our sister website, where they see a list of relevant products and prices.
3. Once they decide which product suits them best, they click on a link that takes them through to the website of the Merchant selling that product.
4. The Merchant pays Shopzilla for valid, CPC-monetized leads and celebrates the sale of a product from the quality traffic you, the Publisher, sent to their website.
5. Shopzilla shares the revenue generated from this quality traffic with you, the Publisher.* Now YOU celebrate!

Should you have any questions, please post a comment since another Publisher may be wondering something similar. The Shopzilla Publisher Team will be sure to reply.

* All publisher earnings are subject to validation and adjustments. Portal reported earnings should only be considered as an estimate. Publishers should consult the Shopzilla, Inc. Publisher Program Terms & Conditions for more information.
